The 19th-century Empire Palace Hotel in Rome, Italy, is on a side street 400 metres from the shops and cafés of Via Veneto and one kilometre from Villa Borghese's museums. Set in a neo-Gothic palazzo, this renovated 1870s townhouse is centred around a courtyard with a 1500-year-old Carrara marble fountain. Mediterranean and fish specialities are served in the Empire Palace Hotel's wood-panelled Restaurant Aureliano.
